CDO Lawmaker Advocates for Restoration of PHP6-B Tourism Road Infrastructure Budget

Cagayan de oro city: Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Representative Rufus Rodriguez called for the restoration of the PHP6-billion Tourism Road Infrastructure Project (TRIP), which would also benefit Mindanao. During the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee budget briefing for the Department of Tourism (DOT) on Monday, Rodriguez emphasized the importance of allocating the budget for TRIP next year to continue the agency's mandate of bridging communities to economic development, especially in Mindanao.

According to Philippines News Agency, Rodriguez, who also serves as the vice chair of the committee, stated, "We're talking of bringing out all of these developments in the region, especially in Mindanao." The DOT Northern Mindanao office has already reported the completion of 210.05 kilometers of roads under TRIP from 2016 to 2024, illustrating the significant progress made.

The TRIP has played a crucial role in establishing tourism circuits in Mindanao, facilitating inter-regional collaboration in tourism programs. The restoration of the budget is seen as essential for continuing these efforts and promoting economic growth in the region.
