CDO to Fully Roll Out New Transport Routes on June 3

Cagayan De Oro: The local government is set to fully implement its Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) on June 3 following final approval from relevant government agencies, a move aimed at decongesting traffic and improving urban mobility.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nonito Oclarit, chief of the Roads and Traffic Administration, confirmed the June 3 full implementation date. "This has been a crucial part of the city's ongoing efforts to modernize its transportation system, coming after a series of extensive dialogues and consultations conducted on the ground," he said.

The LPTRP features more than 70 distinct public transport routes. However, some of these routes are yet to be adopted by transport cooperatives, pending the passage of a corresponding ordinance by the City Council.

The LPTRP is a strategic initiative designed to rationalize and expand the city's public transport network. Its primary goals include enhancing overall mobility, significantly reducing traffic congestion, and boosting the efficiency of the entire urban transport system.
