Cebu BRT Set for September Pilot Launch with Initial Stations Operational

Cebu: The Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (Cebu-BRT) is set to begin its pilot operations in September, as announced by Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon. At least three stations will be operational, providing convenience and ease of mobility to commuters.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dizon confirmed that the project is progressing in alignment with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to expedite the pilot operations and the completion of additional stations. The initial stations, including Fuente, Cebu Normal University, and Cebu South Bus Terminal Station, are expected to serve at least 70,000 commuters once operational.

Efforts to accelerate the project's completion also include the construction of the Cebu Capital Station, which will follow after finalizing its design as a median station instead of the previous curbside configuration. Dizon expressed gratitude to the Cebu provincial government for its cooperation with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) in resolving issues related to the project.

Dizon emphasized the administration's commitment to making commuter journeys faster and more comfortable, stating that the ongoing construction aligns with the President's orders. Additionally, he mentioned that Phases 2A and 3A of the Cebu-BRT, comprising 13 stations and 62 bus stops, are scheduled for completion before the end of President Marcos' term in 2028.
