Bacolod city: Central Visayas took the lead in both senior and youth divisions Tuesday in the National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Games here. As of 3 p.m., Central Visayas has collected 42 gold, 23 silver, and 12 bronze medals in the senior division.
According to Philippines News Agency, Jullia Xeanne Quano (56kg), Rhea Marie Maparo (61kg), and Ma. Vanessa Karaan (66kg) each secured three gold medals in women's weightlifting at the STI West Negros University. Additionally, swimmers Mya Zeana Oluwabusola, Theo Andrey Ituralde, and Mike Gabrielle Dela Serna contributed significantly to the gold tally.
Western Visayas ranked second in the senior division with 27 golds, 18 silvers, and 23 bronzes, followed by Calabarzon, Soccsksargen, Negros Island Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Western Mindanao, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, and Ilocos Region.
In the youth division, Central Visayas amassed 48 golds, 27 silvers, and 18 bronzes. The swimming events were particularly fruitful, yielding 13 golds from standout performances by athletes including Luis Jurado, Zoey Femi Tanduyan, Elisha Vean Olaivar, and relay teams.
Western Visayas placed second in the youth division with 47 golds, with notable contributions from Iloilo's Ma. Victoria Cruz and Jemuel Andrei Villanueva in dancesport. Bicol Region followed in third with 37 golds, while other regions such as NIR, Central Luzon, CAR, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Calabarzon, and Western Mindanao rounded out the standings.
