CFO Expands Online Services for Filipinos Amid Energy Crisis

Manila: The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is expanding its online services to support overseas-bound Filipinos struggling with rising travel costs and mobility constraints amid the ongoing global energy crisis.

According to Philippines News Agency, CFO Secretary Dante 'Klink' Ang II announced that starting April 13, the agency will offer additional sessions and slots for its online Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar. Ang emphasized the CFO's dedication to enhancing services in response to crises, prioritizing the welfare and protection of Filipino migrants.

The online expansion allows overseas-bound Filipinos to complete their mandatory pre-departure requirements safely and conveniently from home. The agency's Peer Counseling Program (PCP), which caters to young emigrants aged 13 to 19, is also now accessible online. This program provides teenagers with a platform for guided discussions, emotional support, and learning from the experiences of fellow young migrants and trained counselors.

The CFO noted the challenges overseas migration poses, especially for younger Filipinos. By moving programs online, CFO constituents can continue their preparations without compromising safety or accessibility. Although the digital shift broadens access, certain programs will remain in-person due to the sensitive nature of the topics, such as the Guidance and Counseling Program for spouses, fianc©s, and partners of foreign nationals, and the Country Familiarization Seminar for Europe-bound Au Pairs.

For those who prefer in-person attendance, CFO offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Thursday, through a confirmed online appointment. Fridays are reserved exclusively for online services, and constituents are discouraged from visiting offices in person on that day. The CFO urges all overseas-bound Filipinos to stay updated on schedules, registration procedures, and program guidelines via its official platforms to ensure a smooth, efficient pre-departure process.
