Zamboanga: Authorities arrested a Chinese national on Monday in a joint law enforcement operation in this city for violation of Philippine immigration law, the military said.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) identified the arrested foreigner as Rongtian Shi, a citizen of Fujian, China. The Westmincom said Shi was arrested shortly before 1 p.m. at the BOS Cellphone and Accessories Store on Maria Clara Street, Barangay Zone 3, pursuant to a duly issued mission order.

'The subject was found to be engaging in gainful business without the appropriate visa or permit, constituting misrepresentation and violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, as amended,' the Westmincom said in a statement.
