After almost two years in hiding, a lady village chairperson was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Zamboanga Peninsula (CiDG-9) during an operation in Sulu province, an official said Tuesday.

Col. John Francis Encinareal, CIDG-9 chief, identified the arrested village official as Radzata Dambong, the barangay chairperson of Asin, Panamao, Sulu.

Encinareal said Dambong was arrested in a warrant of arrest operation around 1:46 p.m. Monday in Barangay Seit Lake, Panamao.

Dambong has a standing warrant of arrest for murder with no recommended bail issued by the court in Parang town, Sulu.

Dambong is accused in the killing of Mukim Hussin, 58, on November 7, 2020 in Barangay Tunggol, Kalingalan Caluang, Sulu, according to Encinareal.

He said Dambong continued to serve her constituents in Barangay Asin while staying in another village to hide from authorities.

Dambong is currently under the custody of the CIDG field office in Sulu.
