Manila: The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has successfully apprehended 22 fugitives charged with rape and sexual abuse in a series of operations conducted from May 1 to 4 across various regions in the country.
According to Philippines News Agency, CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III disclosed that 13 of those arrested were from Mindanao, seven from Luzon, and two from Visayas. Torre stated that the arrests were crucial in preventing future incidents of rape and providing justice for 22 victims and their families.
Out of the 22 individuals apprehended, 14 were identified as most wanted at the regional level, while five were listed at the provincial level. The operations were carried out in multiple locations, including Bulacan, Bataan, Batangas, Rizal, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Antique, Iloilo, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, Davao del Norte, South Cotabato, and North Cotabato.
Torre emphasized the CIDG's unwavering commitment to combating all forms of criminality and its determination to apprehend wanted persons, fugitives, and all criminals.
