Manila: The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) successfully apprehended 751 suspects and confiscated more than PHP34.2 million worth of evidence during comprehensive nationwide manhunt and anti-criminality operations conducted in December.

According to Philippines News Agency, the CIDG's operations led to the arrest of individuals including wanted persons, fugitives, and members of criminal and terrorist organizations. The efforts also resulted in the seizure of 149 loose firearms, 27 explosives, 129 assorted magazines, and 3,077 rounds of ammunition.

Among those captured were 97 individuals listed as regional most wanted, 91 identified as provincial most wanted, and 49 classified as city or municipal most wanted. The arrests also included five members of communist terrorist groups, one member of a local terrorist group, one member of a criminal group, and nine foreign nationals.

In executing 39 search warrants and conducting 41 buy-bust operations, the CIDG targeted violations of Republic Act No. 10591, known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The seized firearms included 16 light weapons, hand grenades, rifle grenades, magazines, and live ammunition.

Under Oplan OLEA (Other Law Enforcement Activities), the CIDG successfully seized PHP34,268,781.07 worth of evidence from operations against substandard, counterfeit, smuggled, and trademark-infringing products. The crackdown also addressed illegal logging, illegal mining, and dangerous drugs. Confiscated items ranged from electric kettles, coffee products, vapes, and mobile phones, to luncheon meat, mosquito coils, ukay-ukay (second-hand) items, butane canisters, liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, and bathroom accessories.
