College Scholarship Opens for Antique Coconut Farmers’ Dependents

Antique: The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) is now accepting applications for the educational scholarship grant for children of coconut farmers in Antique. PCA Division Chief I for Aklan/Antique Gregory Te±oso III stated that applications are being accepted from June 23 until July 31 for those who wish to pursue college education.

According to Philippines News Agency, there are 62 scholarship slots available throughout Western Visayas, including in Antique province. To qualify, applicants must meet certain academic criteria, including a general weighted average based on their chosen degree program, an 80 percent general weighted average or its equivalent for the previous semester, and must pass the entry level requirements for the identified state universities and colleges (SUCs). For those with privately funded scholarships covering only tuition fees, applicants must pass the entry level requirement of the private higher education institution. Additionally, applicants must be dependents of duly registered coconut farmers in the National Coconut Farmers Registry System (NCFRS).

Te±oso highlighted that 35 graduates from Antique benefited from the grant in the previous school year 2024-2025. PCA scholar Floribel Reginio expressed gratitude for the scholarship, which enabled her to complete her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture-Crop Science degree at the University of Antique - Hamtic campus. As the second among five siblings of a coconut farmer and a vegetable vendor, she is the first in her family to finish college and is currently preparing for her board exam. Furthermore, Reginio is anticipating her two-year return service, which is a condition of the scholarship.
