Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is 95 percent ready to conduct the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections (BPE) set on September 14. Comelec Chairperson George Garcia assured that they are ready to hold the first-ever BPE.

According to Philippines News Agency, Garcia stated in an interview that the printing and verification of more than 2.3 million official ballots have been completed, with less than 1 percent of defective ballots reprinted immediately. The election paraphernalia and equipment are expected to begin deployment in early August. "Ballots have been completed for printing and verification. There were less than 1 percent defective ballots, and we have reprinted them immediately," Garcia noted.

The ballots and necessary equipment have been packed and are ready for deployment in the first week of August. The machines and other supplies are also ready, with the packing and shipping committee finalizing logistics. Garcia mentioned that they are preparing to train teachers and other personnel who will serve in the September elections. "Leading to the elections, so far, all that is left is the training of teachers and special electoral board, Philippine National Police personnel. Our preparations are only a little unfinished," he added.

The campaign period for the BPE officially began on Thursday, allowing candidates to promote themselves and appeal to voters for support on Election Day. The campaign period is set to conclude on September 12.
