Comelec Calls on New and Deactivated Voters in San Jose de Buenavista to Register

San jose de buenavista: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is urging new and deactivated voters in San Jose de Buenavista to register for the upcoming 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election. Election Officer III Johnna Catilo emphasized the importance of registration for those eligible, particularly individuals turning 15 years old by November 2, 2026, and those whose voting status has been deactivated.

According to Philippines News Agency, Catilo noted that less than half of approximately 2,000 deactivated voters in San Jose de Buenavista have reactivated their status during the registration period from August 1-10, 2025. Voter deactivation occurs when an individual fails to participate in two consecutive elections.

Catilo mentioned that while there is no specific target for new registrants, satellite registration sessions will be conducted in all barangays of San Jose de Buenavista starting early next year to facilitate the registration process. The Comelec will also assist with applications for transfer of registration, correction of entries, and updating of records for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and other vulnerable groups.

Applicants are advised to bring a government-issued identification card, Postal ID, or passport. Students can also present their birth certificate, IDs, or enrollment form. However, barangay certification, police clearance, and company IDs are not accepted by the Comelec.

The Comelec office is open to assist applicants from Monday to Saturday. Since the registration resumed on October 20, only 18 individuals have applied, predominantly for transfer of registration.
