Manila: The printing of more than 400,000 official ballots for the August 29 special polls for the Fourth Legislative District of Dasmari±as City in Cavite was completed on Saturday, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced.

According to Philippines News Agency, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia confirmed in a statement that the printing process has reached full completion, with a total of 447,387 official ballots prepared. He further outlined the subsequent steps, which include sheeting, cutting, and stitching of the ballots.

The ballot printing commenced on Friday at the National Printing Office located in Quezon City. This special election is being conducted to fill the vacancy left by Francisco Barzaga Jr., who was removed from office in June following charges of "disorderly behavior, conduct unbecoming of a member, and violations of the House Code of Conduct."

Five candidates are in the race to fill the vacant congressional seat. They are Raul Rex Mangubat, Marvin Dupal-ag, Leysander Ordenes, Jacinto Frani Jr., and the incumbent Dasmari±as City Mayor Jennifer Barzaga, who is also the mother of the ousted official.
