Comelec Confirms Full-Scale Preparations for BARMM Elections in October

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced it is fully engaged in preparing for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections, scheduled for October 13.

According to Philippines News Agency, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia emphasized in a recent interview that the preparations for the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections are fully underway. He reassured the public that the election would proceed as planned, dismissing any speculation about a potential postponement.

Garcia reaffirmed the commission's commitment to conducting the elections, stating that any delay would require legislative action. "To the people of the Bangsamoro, we will proceed with the elections at all costs. That is our commitment to you," he declared, highlighting the significance of the upcoming electoral process.

The elections were previously rescheduled from May 12, 2025, to October 13, 2025, following the passage of Republic Act 12123. Despite this change, Comelec remains focused on ensuring that the election takes place as rescheduled without further delays.
