Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has successfully completed the printing and verification of 2,393,202 official ballots required for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections scheduled for September 14.

According to Philippines News Agency, the printing and verification process concluded at the National Printing Office in Quezon City on Sunday. This crucial step in election preparations was conducted with an emphasis on transparency and public involvement, as the entire process was livestreamed. The recorded playback of the proceedings is available on the Comelec's official Facebook and YouTube pages for public viewing.

Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco revealed that the deployment of election paraphernalia and equipment is slated to commence next month. "The month of August will be dedicated by Comelec to the delivery or deployment of all equipment," Laudiangco stated. He added that hubs have already been identified for the distribution of automated counting machines (ACMs) and ballots, which will then be sent to the treasurer's office as per legal requirements.

Laudiangco emphasized the importance of transparency in the distribution process, noting that stakeholders, including the media, will be involved in inspecting and inventorying the equipment. Additionally, technical and repair hubs will be established to address any issues with the ACMs, ensuring they are tested and sealed by September 12.

The Comelec also announced that the campaign period for the BARMM region will begin on July 30 and conclude on September 12, marking a significant step in the lead-up to the elections.
