Comelec Nears 1 Million Voter Registration Applications Nationwide

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has processed nearly 1 million applications for voter registration, marking a significant milestone in preparations for upcoming elections. As of December 14, the tally of applications received nationwide stands at 962,615.

According to Philippines News Agency, a large portion of these applications, 743,814, are from individuals applying to vote in the village polls, while 218,801 applications are from prospective youth voters. In addition, Comelec has received 262,974 applications from new registrants aged 18 and above.

The data further reveals that 277,070 individuals have applied to transfer their registration from another city or municipality, while 59,096 have sought transfers within the same city or municipality. Meanwhile, 38,572 applicants aim to reactivate their voter registration.

A notable 218,801 applications have come from Sangguniang Kabataan voters, who are aged 15 to 17 years. Other applications include 918 for transfers from other cities or municipalities, 279 for transfers within the same locality, and 3,284 for correction of entries.

The voter registration period, which resumed on October 20, 2025, will continue until May 18, 2026. Comelec aims to register approximately 1.4 million new voters for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections scheduled for November 2026.
