Comelec Proclaims Elmer Catulpos as New 1Tahanan Party-List Representative

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has officially proclaimed Elmer Catulpos as the new representative of the 1Tahanan Party-list in the House of Representatives for the 20th Congress. This announcement follows a series of resignations within the party's previous nominees.

According to Philippines News Agency, Catulpos was appointed during a ceremony at the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila. The proclamation was made by the Commission en banc, under the leadership of Chairperson George Garcia. Catulpos succeeds Nathaniel Oducado, the party's first nominee, who stepped down from his position.

Originally listed as the fourth nominee, Catulpos ascended to the role after the resignation of the party's second and third nominees, Gerard Joseph Ali±o and Raul Del Prado, respectively. This reshuffling was in compliance with the Party-List System Act, which mandates that vacancies be filled by the next available nominee.

The 1Tahanan Party-list secured its seat in the House of Representatives after garnering 309,761 votes, placing them 44th in the May 2025 elections. The Party-List System Act ensures that any vacancy in reserved seats is automatically filled by the subsequent nominee, as per the order submitted to Comelec.

In the event that the list of nominees is depleted, the concerned party or coalition is required to submit additional nominees to fill any remaining vacancies.
