Antipolo: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the two-day filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) for the special polls for the Second District of Antipolo City early next month. The special polls on March 14 will determine the successor of former Rep. Romeo Acop, who died due to heart attack last month.

According to Philippines News Agency, under Resolution No. 11185 or the Calendar of Activities for the March 14 special polls, Comelec said candidates seeking to be elected to the post may file their COCs from Feb. 5 to 7 before the local Comelec office in the city. The election period is set to begin Feb. 12 and will run until March 23.

The poll body reminded the public that prohibited during the period are bearing, carrying or transporting firearms or other deadly weapons in public places. Also not allowed during the period are: Transfer or detail of officers and employees in the civil service, including public school teachers.

The Comelec added that the 30-day campaign period will begin on Feb. 12 until March 12. From March 4, 2026, to March 13, 2026, the poll body added there will be an absolute ban on release of public funds, including funds for AICS, AKAP and TUPAD, except burial and medical assistance.

Voters may cast their votes from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The counting of votes will occur immediately after the closing of polls, followed by canvassing of election returns, and proclamation of the winning candidate. Poll candidates have until April 13 to file their statements of contributions and expenditures.
