Iloilo city: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Iloilo City is aiming to register approximately 20,000 new voters as the ongoing voter registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) commenced on Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Election Assistant II Jonathan Sayno mentioned in a phone interview that due to limited space, registrations will not be accommodated at their office. Instead, the registration process will be conducted in malls, barangays, and schools. Sayno stated that the registration schedule is already in place, starting from today until May 18, 2026.
The first week of registration, from October 20-24, will take place at Robinsons Jaro, followed by a move to the barangay hall of M.H. del Pilar in Jaro on October 25. The registration will be conducted by district to make the services more accessible, particularly for vulnerable sectors and youths.
Sayno explained that there are two types of registration: one for youths aged 15 to 18 years old during the November 2, 2026 elections for the Sangguniang Kabataan, and the other for regular registrants. Additionally, applications for activation, correction or entry by virtue of marriage or misspelled name, transfer of voting registration records, and the Registration Anywhere program are also being catered to in Iloilo City.
Currently, Iloilo City has 330,000 registered voters.
