Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Monday its plan to distribute Voter's Information Sheets (VIS) throughout the country starting next month. The distribution will take place from April 1 to April 30, as part of an effort to guide voters on the voting process and candidate selection.
According to Philippines News Agency, Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia stated in an interview that the VIS printing is expected to be completed by March 24 in Meycauayan, Bulacan. The commission is collaborating with the National Printing Office to ensure the timeline is met.
The VIS will feature 1,667 variations, tailored to each town and city to reflect their unique sets of local candidates. Garcia explained that these sheets could also serve as "cheat sheets" (kodigo) for voters on Election Day, aiding them in casting their votes more efficiently.
Under Republic Act 7904, Comelec is required to provide all registered voters with a VIS via registered mail at least 30 days before an election. The VIS will include the voter's name, address, precinct, and registration place, along with instructions on voting procedures.
