Comelec to Publish Nominees for Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections Online

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced that details regarding candidates for the Parliamentary District Representative, as well as nominees of Regional Parliamentary Political Parties (RPPPs) and Parliamentary Sectoral Organizations (PSOs) for the forthcoming Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE), will be available on its official website starting May 13.

According to Philippines News Agency, Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco revealed that the List of Nominees with Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination with Affidavit of Non-Affinity (CAN-ANA), List of Nominees with Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination for Sectoral Candidacy (CAN-SC), Consolidated List of Nominees, and List of Parliamentary District Representative Candidates will be published on www.comelec.gov.ph on Wednesday. Laudiangco emphasized the importance of public participation in reviewing the qualifications of the candidates to ensure they meet the requirements for the elections scheduled for September 14.

During a television interview, Laudiangco encouraged citizens to file disqualification petitions if they discover any nominees or candidates who fail to meet eligibility criteria, such as lacking Filipino citizenship or providing false information in their Certificates of Candidacy. He highlighted that petitions under Comelec Resolution No. 11220 can be submitted during regular working hours and must be filed before the date of proclamation.

Based on Comelec data, a total of 108 Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) were filed during the designated period from May 5 to 7. These submissions include 17 from Basilan, 33 from Lanao del Sur, 11 from Maguindanao del Norte, 16 from Maguindanao del Sur, 13 from Tawi-Tawi, seven from the Special Geographic Area, and 11 from Cotabato City. The Commission en banc has approved 16 applicants for RPPPs and accredited 23 PSOs.
