Manila: The Construction Project Management Association of the Philippines (CPMAP) is fully supporting the anti-corruption advocacy of housing czar Jose Ramon Aliling. In a news release on Friday, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) reported that CPMAP president Eduardo Hitosis said the group is 'standing firmly behind Aliling's zero-tolerance policy on corruption, particularly amid ongoing controversies over alleged anomalies in billion-peso government flood control projects.'
According to Philippines News Agency, Hitosis expressed that Aliling's firm stance against corruption serves as an inspiration and a reminder of hope for the nation. He emphasized that Aliling's advocacy sends a clear message that the housing and real estate sector is in capable hands. Hitosis further committed CPMAP's partnership with the DHSUD, pledging to work collaboratively with the government.
Aliling has previously urged private developers to unite against corruption, emphasizing that even the slightest form should not be tolerated. He also called upon industry leaders to support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s broader campaign for good governance.
Since assuming leadership of the DHSUD in May, Aliling has implemented reforms based on the agency's 8-Point Agenda, which aligns with the administration's Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines) initiative for transparent, efficient, and people-centered governance. These reforms include a zero-tolerance stance on corruption, process streamlining and digitalization, and the expansion of the flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
The reforms have swiftly gained traction, with at least 42 private developers committing to build over 250,000 housing units under the Expanded 4PH. Aliling has also engaged urban poor organizations and civil society groups to ensure housing policies are inclusive and participative.
