Manila: The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday announced that Russian YouTuber Vitaly Zdorovetskiy has been transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). The decision follows the local legal issues Zdorovetskiy faces in the Philippines.
According to Philippines News Agency, Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated that Zdorovetskiy was moved to the BJMP on June 11. The vlogger will remain there until the resolution of his court cases, after which he will be returned to the BI for deportation. Zdorovetskiy had requested temporary release through bail, but this request has not been granted.
Viado emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of immigration laws and declared that foreigners who breach these laws must face consequences. He asserted that the BI would not allow the deportation process to be affected by publicity or legal strategies, and no special treatment would be given to Zdorovetskiy.
In a document submitted to the BI, Zdorovetskiy assured authorities that he does not intend to evade deportation and promised to remain in the National Capital Region. He also committed to surrendering to BI custody if a deportation order is issued against him.
The BI reiterated that foreign nationals who disrupt public order can face deportation under Philippine law. Viado expressed the Bureau's commitment to supporting the Marcos administration's efforts for improved border security and law enforcement, ensuring that foreign violators are held accountable and deported as necessary.
Zdorovetskiy was arrested by Philippine authorities in April for participating in law-breaking stunts as content for his YouTube videos.
