Mandaluyong city: Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) recorded the highest sales at the 2025 Bagong Pilipinas National Trade Fair held from July 23 to 27 at SM Megamall.
According to Philippines News Agency, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-CAR Regional Director, lawyer Raymond Panhon, announced that Cordillera earned PHP20.5 million in total sales, accounting for 17 percent of the event's nationwide figures. Panhon expressed his happiness and pride in the achievements of the Cordillera MSMEs, attributing their success to the "Tatak Pinoy" Program that enhanced product quality and market reach.
A total of 49 Cordillera MSMEs participated in the fair, showcasing the region's creativity and culture. Among the top-selling items were Abra's inabel fabrics, known for their natural plant-based dyes and intricate embroidery. Panhon extended his gratitude to buyers who supported the Cordilleran brand products.
Lawyer Samuel Gallardo, DTI-CAR Assistant Director, highlighted the significant contributions of MSMEs to local economies through job creation and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods. Despite their mostly micro size, MSMEs account for 98 percent of all businesses and provide around 60 percent of employment. Gallardo emphasized the importance of MSMEs in driving sustainable initiatives for a thriving economy.
Gallardo also noted DTI's ongoing support for MSMEs, which includes soft loans, skills training, and market linkage programs designed to help them grow, survive, and compete both nationally and globally.
