DA-Bicol Allocates PHP10.9 Million for Gulayan sa Bayan Projects

Legazpi city: The Department of Agriculture in Bicol (DA-5) has allocated over PHP10.9 million to various groups in the region as part of the Gulayan sa Bayan project under the High Value Crops Development Program. This initiative is aimed at enhancing food security, promoting sustainable living, and offering additional livelihood opportunities for communities in Bicol.

According to Philippines News Agency, the financial support is directed towards the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon. Beneficiaries, including farmers' cooperatives and associations, Rural Improvement Clubs, 4H Clubs, and senior citizens' groups, each received an intervention package worth PHP102,274.62.

These packages are designed to assist communities in establishing sustainable vegetable gardens and include vegetable seeds, plastic mulch, vegetable twine, water hoses, UV plastic, and other essential agricultural supplies.
