Manila: The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have expressed their support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to conduct lifestyle checks on all government officials. This measure aims to prevent corruption within the government.
According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos has ordered the implementation of lifestyle checks within the executive department. This decision comes amid an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the government's flood control projects. Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. has voiced his full support for the initiative, noting that similar practices were already part of his previous business operations. He believes the measure will help identify misconduct among public officials.
Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque has also affirmed her commitment to complying with the President's directive. She highlighted that the DTI has already started addressing the alleged 'accreditation for sale' scheme involving contractors of the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB). While she mentioned that hearings are underway, she refrained from providing further details due to the ongoing nature of the proceedings.
