DAR Distributes E-Titles, Condonates Debts for Caraga Farmers

Buenavista: Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) officials distributed 13,903 electronic land titles and granted debt condonations to thousands of farmers in the Caraga Region on Wednesday. DAR Undersecretary Amihilda Sangcopan and DAR 13 (Caraga) Director Merlita Capinpuyan led the mass distribution in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. The e-titles cover approximately 20,044 hectares and benefit 10,251 agrarian reform beneficiaries across the region's five provinces.

According to Philippines News Agency, Capinpuyan also distributed Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (COCROMs) under the New Agrarian Emancipation Act. "Over PHP80 million worth of amortizations will be condoned through the release of COCROMs that will cover around 2,221.6380 hectares of land," Capinpuyan told reporters. The condonation benefited 1,927 recipients from Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Sur.

Beneficiary Isidro Barba, 73, of Jabonga, Agusan del Norte, welcomed his individual title. "Thank you, DAR, for my e-title," Barba said. "Now, I own more than two hectares of agricultural land." Fellow recipient Francisco Mijares Jr., 60, of Cabadbaran City, expressed gratitude for the debt relief. "We are grateful for this government program," Mijares said. "Because we are already debt-free, we are motivated to maximize the use of our farmlands."

Officials also distributed 197 collective Certificates of Land Ownership Award covering 166.7594 hectares to 173 beneficiaries during the event.
