Davao biz permit applications higher this year vs. 2023

DAVAO: The City Treasurer's Office (CTO) has logged an increase in the number of business permits renewed as of Jan. 19 with 35,291 applicants compared to the 34,355 permit renewals for the same period last year, an official said Thursday. Business Bureau Head Maribel Paguican noted that the number of permits paid this month is higher with 17,762, compared to 16,953 in the same period in 2023. Paguican said the CTO managed to collect PHP734 million as of Jan. 19, which is higher than the PHP681 million collection in the same period last year. Meanwhile, Paguican reminded local traders that businesses that failed to renew their permits this month will have to pay surcharges to acquire their licenses. 'To avoid queuing in the bureau's processing sites, business owners to process the renewal of their permits on-site, online, and hybrid processes - a combination of three viable options for clients,' she said in a statement.
