Davao Cops Seize P7.4-M in Drugs, Arrest 153 in April

Davao City: A month-long series of intensive anti-drug operations conducted by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) throughout April resulted in the significant seizure of illegal drugs valued at PHP7.4 million, the city's acting police director bared Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Colonel Hansel Marantan, the acting DCPO director, said the city's police units carried out 122 anti-illegal drug operations during the month. These operations led to the successful arrest of 153 individuals involved in various drug-related activities.

The concerted efforts resulted in the confiscation of 1,093 grams of methamphetamine (shabu) with an estimated street value of PHP7.43 million, along with 566.6 grams of marijuana valued at PHP67,995. Consequently, authorities filed approximately 188 cases in court against the arrested drug suspects.

'The Davao City Police Office remains steadfast in its commitment to serve with the utmost sincerity, ensuring the safety and security of our city and its residents,' Marantan said in a statement.

In addition to its anti-drug efforts, the DCPO also conducted 66 operations targeting illegal gambling during the same period. These operations led to the arrest of 84 individuals involved in gambling activities and the confiscation of PHP21,912 in bet money. Subsequently, sixty-six cases were filed in court against those apprehended for illegal gambling.
