Davao Police Seize PHP1.9 Million in Drugs, Arrest 63 Wanted Persons in Weeklong Operations

Davao City: The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) announced the confiscation of illegal drugs valued at over PHP1.9 million during operations conducted over a week, from April 20 to 26. The operations were part of a concerted effort to curb illegal activities in the city.

According to Philippines News Agency, DCPO acting Director Colonel Hansel Marantan reported that their units carried out 29 anti-drug operations throughout the week. These efforts led to the arrest of 37 individuals involved in illegal drug activities. The operations successfully seized 292.4 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, which had an estimated street value of PHP1.9 million. Additionally, 114.7 grams of marijuana, valued at PHP13,770, were confiscated.

Colonel Marantan emphasized the DCPO's commitment to maintaining the safety and security of Davao City and its residents. In line with this mission, the DCPO also targeted wanted individuals, conducting 63 operations that resulted in the arrest of 63 persons, including 15 who were on the most wanted list.

Furthermore, the DCPO's focus extended to addressing the issue of loose firearms in the city. Nine operations aimed at the proliferation of illegal firearms resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of three illegal firearms. Marantan noted that one individual voluntarily surrendered a firearm, and six others handed in their firearms for safekeeping under the initiative known as Oplan Katok. Additionally, two related cases have been filed in court.
