Davao Septage Plant Nears Completion with September Launch Planned

Davao city: The Davao City Water District (DCWD) announced that its state-of-the-art Septage Treatment Plant (SpTP) is now 93 percent complete and is expected to be fully operational by September. The plant, located in Barangay Indangan, is a significant component of the Septage Management Program (SMP), which focuses on treating wastewater collected during program implementation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DCWD spokesperson, Jovana Cresta Duhaylungsod, mentioned in an interview that the facility can accommodate 100 cubic meters, or 100,000 gallons, of septage, with potential expansion capabilities to 200 cubic meters. She explained that the scheduling of the five-year dislodging cycle is strategically based on proximity to the treatment plant to optimize efficiency.

Duhaylungsod highlighted that the SMP is a collaborative effort with the city government, intended as an interim solution for the city's sewerage needs. To streamline operations, the DCWD will create a monthly scheduled route plan and notify affected households at least a month prior to dislodging, ensuring a household representative is present during the process.

Additionally, Duhaylungsod advised homeowners with septic tanks or access holes inside their homes to relocate them outside or ensure they have an accessible access point, facilitating smoother operations during the dislodging process.
