DAVAO CITY - The city government has called on Dabawenyos to strictly adhere to security protocols and traffic guidelines for the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day on Nov. 1 and 2. Residents are reminded to follow traffic rules, use designated parking areas, and avoid prohibited routes based on the management plan issued by the City Transport and Traffic Management Office. In a statement Tuesday, the city government outlined restrictions for cemetery visitors on Nov. 1 and 2, including a ban on pointed objects, karaoke machines, loud music, jackets, bags, gambling, and alcoholic beverages. Firearms and drones are also prohibited in cemeteries. Public cemetery gates will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3, though private cemeteries may set their own hours. "While overnight stays in public cemeteries are prohibited, private cemeteries may allow it at management's discretion. Medical tents will be available at all cemetery entrances for any emergencies," the city said. Loit erers, vagrants and scavengers will be denied entry. Vehicles and pedestrians must follow the "one entrance, one exit" policy. Public cemeteries managed by the City Economic Enterprises will suspend all burials, internments, and cremations from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3, except emergency cases. Only vendors with special permits from the Business Bureau will be allowed to sell goods near cemeteries during this period. Alcohol, barbecued food, sharp objects, and second-hand clothing are prohibited for sale. "Cooking and eating on sidewalks are also banned to prevent obstructions that could endanger pedestrians.
