Davao Transport Terminal Braces for 85K Holy Week Passengers

Davao: The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) anticipates an influx of some 85,000 bus and van passengers this Holy Week, according to terminal manager Aisa Usop.

According to Philippines News Agency, Usop, speaking at a press briefing on Monday, stated that they are projecting approximately 1,000 to 1,500 bus and van trips daily to accommodate the surge. Security measures at the terminal have been heightened to manage the increased passenger traffic.

Usop assured the public that the terminal's 32 closed-circuit television cameras, three baggage X-ray machines, and walkthrough scanners are fully operational. These measures are intended to enhance security and ensure the safety of all passengers during this busy period.

The DCOTT management is closely coordinating with Task Force Davao and 17 bus companies that have applied for special permits to handle the passenger volume efficiently. To facilitate quicker departures, the usual 30-minute interval for buses has been temporarily lifted during the peak season of Holy Week. Usop advised bus operators to depart once their vehicles are full to manage the flow of passengers effectively.

Usop urged passengers to cooperate with security protocols and practice self-discipline during their travels. She emphasized the city government's commitment to ensuring a safe trip for all passengers during this significant period.
