KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and the Han Culture Centre Malaysia need to carry on efforts to translate and public Chinese fiction and non-fiction works in Malay language , especially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Prof Emeritus Datuk Seri Dr Awang Sariyan, honorary advisor at the Malay Studies Centre in Beijing, China said this was in line with the development of AI, which has witness the use of such technologies as ChatGPT 4.0, Gemini 1.5 Pro and electric vehicles. 'In addition, it's time for us to introduce our Malay language and literature, arts and culture to readers in mainland China. "Don't let Chinese readers be limited to works like Salina by Datuk Seri Dr A Samad Said, when we have novels by Anwar Ridhwan, poetry by Muhammad Haji Salleh, Baha Zain, Zurinah Hassan, Siti Zainon Ismail and Rahman Saari," he said during his speech at the launch of the 50 Judul Buku Mutiara catalogue in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic ties here today. M eanwhile, Han Culture Centre Malaysia president Datuk Goh Hin San said the catalogue of books were the result of his associations efforts with cooperation from DBP, with 25 books published in Malaysia and another 25 in China, encompassing classic and contemporary works. The selected works prove that literature, arts, culture and language were equally important as economic and commercial fields and needed more and specific emphasis by the government and the private sector, Goh said, adding that works in the catalogue include a collection of Classic Chinese stories, a Malaysia-China anthology, Kenali Xi'an and Selected Poetry from the Song Dynasty. Awang Sariyan had also presented sets of 50 China-Malaysia teen and children's books to 12 selected schools earlier in the event. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
