Manila:The Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Animal Industry has announced that avian influenza testing per shipment will be waived for local movements of certain poultry and related products from the Negros Island Region.
According to Philippines News Agency, the waiver applies to live poultry, other bird species, eggs, and poultry products and by-products originating from the region, but does not include live ducks. This decision was communicated through a public advisory issued by the DA-NIR Regulatory Division, based on BAI Memorandum Circular 57-2026.
The advisory specified that the waiver is effective until February 24, 2027, but it may be revoked if any avian influenza cases are confirmed in the provinces of the Negros Island Region. The DA-NIR emphasized that compliance with all other relevant documentary and transport requirements remains mandatory, and that backyard and commercial farms must adhere to existing regulations for the local transport of animals and their products.
A veterinary health certificate is still required for these movements. All stakeholders are urged to follow current animal health and transport guidelines to ensure the safe and responsible transportation of poultry and poultry products.
