Manila: The Department of Education (DepEd) School Division of Antique has announced that a road safety program will be incorporated into the Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies) curriculum beginning in the School Year 2026-2027. This initiative is aimed at reducing accidents involving students.
According to Philippines News Agency, DepEd Antique head Dr. Ernesto Servillon Jr. emphasized that the inclusion of road safety education is crucial as many students commute between their homes and schools. The program is expected to provide necessary knowledge to prevent any untoward incidents during these travels.
Dr. Servillon highlighted that the road safety curriculum will cover the importance of acquiring a driver's license and understanding land transport regulations enforced by the Land Transportation Office. The initiative seeks to instill awareness and responsibility among learners, equipping them with essential safety knowledge.
