Manila: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has initiated the process of accepting requests for shelter assistance under its Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP) from local government units (LGUs). This move aligns with the directive issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to aid families affected by Severe Tropical Storm "Crising" and the ongoing southwest monsoon rains.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DHSUD has released a public advisory stating that LGUs can now submit their requests for assistance to the regional offices, provided they meet specific requirements. These include a disaster report, a Master List of Beneficiaries prepared and approved by the local housing office or board, and a Certificate of Eligibility validated by the local housing office and concurred by the DHSUD Regional Director. This certificate is crucial in confirming that the listed homes were totally damaged.
For households to qualify for assistance, the head of the household must be on the LGU-submitted master list, and the home must have been totally or partially damaged due to the recent weather disturbance. Additionally, the household must not have received or be set to receive any other government shelter assistance for the same disaster. Households are required to submit a photocopy of a valid government-issued ID and an accomplished beneficiary eligibility form to their LGUs.
In a related effort, the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) has declared a one-month moratorium on monthly amortization payments for its beneficiaries severely affected by Crising and the monsoon rains. The SHFC has advised beneficiaries to reach out to their designated account officers for more information and assistance.
Both the DHSUD and SHFC have underscored their dedication to supporting Filipino families in the wake of calamities, with the DHSUD focusing on long-term shelter support and the SHFC providing financial relief measures to facilitate recovery.
