Manila: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has started the distribution of unconditional cash assistance to victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami) in Albay. This action is in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s call for a "conveyor belt of aid" for all the victims of Kristine. "Lahat po ng kaya nating itulong sa ating mga kababayan ay ibibigay natin -- cash assistance, loan payment moratorium at posibleng relocation ng mga nasa (We will provide everything we can to help our fellowmen -- cash assistance, loan payment moratorium and possible relocation of those in) danger zones," DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said in a news release on Tuesday. The DHSUD Regional Office 5 led the distribution of cash assistance to 60 families from Daraga, under the Integrated Disaser Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP). Of the tally, 57 families have partially damaged residences. They were from the villages of Ibaugan, Lacag, Budiao, Busay, Bagum bayan, Kiwalo, San Vicente Pequeño, Ilawod, Malobago, Cullat, Market Site, and Pandan. The IDSAP can provide unconditional cash assistance of PHP30,000 to families with totally damaged houses and PHP10,000 to those with partially damaged residences due to man-made or natural disasters. The DHSUD also ordered its key shelter agencies to implement a moratorium on the payment of monthly amortization on housing loans of its members in Kristine-hit areas. Source: Philippines News Agency
