Antique: Residents of Antique can now enjoy connectivity with the launch of the "Free Wi-Fi For All" project of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in this province on Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, DICT Assistant Secretary Christian Mark Guingcangco announced that 269 locations with 798 Wi-Fi access points have been distributed across the 18 municipalities of the province. Guingcangco emphasized that this initiative is aimed at enhancing access to education, livelihood, and government services through the provision of free, reliable Wi-Fi in every community.

Antique Governor Paolo Everardo Javier expressed his appreciation for the DICT's efforts, highlighting the critical need for connectivity, especially in the province's 590 barangays, many of which are in upland areas. He noted that with the availability of free internet, residents in remote areas could seek immediate help during calamities.

DICT Western Visayas Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Assistant Regional Director Jimuel Espa±ola, during a press conference, encouraged school principals and heads to ensure that learners make the most of the free internet for educational purposes. He highlighted that the free Wi-Fi locations are strategically placed in schools, terminals, health facilities, and other public areas throughout the province.

San Jose de Buenavista Municipal Economic Enterprise and Development Officer Darcy Bungay confirmed that the free internet access is available 24/7 at the public utility vehicle terminal and market. The project was successfully realized with the support of Senator Loren Legarda and Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda.
