DILG Conducts Service Caravan in Eight Pangasinan Barangays

Accra:Pangasinan The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Pangasinan held its second Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) Serbisyo Caravan on Wednesday, providing a one-stop-shop of government services to eight barangays in the province. The event took place at the local government's event center beside the municipal hall.

According to Philippines News Agency, the beneficiaries of this initiative are residents of Barangays Alac, Baligayan, Cabalaoan, Cabangaran, Gonzalo, Labuan, Mantacdang, and Nangapugan. These areas are recognized as geographically isolated and disadvantaged, having been previously identified by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) due to reported recruitment activities and sightings of communist terrorist groups. The barangays have since been cleared by the Philippine Army and turned over to the DILG.

DILG Pangasinan Provincial Director Gerald Gallardo explained that the barangays participated in the Retooled Community Support Program, which assesses community needs based on proposals for national government funding. Common requests from these communities include solar street lights, farm-to-market roads, potable water systems, and school building construction.

Gallardo further stated that the DILG continues to accommodate requests from local government units (LGUs) by facilitating proposal submissions. Although the DILG provides technical assistance and guidance, funding support is contingent upon the relevant national government agency. The DILG also monitors the implementation of these projects.

The next RCSP Serbisyo Caravan is scheduled to be held in Balungao, following the initial event in Dasol town. Gallardo highlighted that the presence of different government agencies in one location optimizes resources and time, with sought-after services including those from the Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corp.'s YAKAP program, and the Philippine Statistics Authority.
