Imus: The Diocese of Imus has joined the growing call for the passage of a "genuine" anti-political dynasty law, backing a nationwide people's initiative seeking to address what advocates describe as Congress' longstanding inaction on the issue.

According to Philippines News Agency, in Circular Letter No. 28-2026 issued Wednesday, Imus Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista expressed support for the campaign led by the multisectoral Dapat Isa Lang (D1L) Movement. "The mission is to advance a genuine anti-political dynasty law through People's Initiative (PI) as a response to Congress' long inaction to this national issue," Evangelista said. "This aims to break the cycle of dynasties, curb corruption, and create space for capable leaders to serve the common good," he added.

Evangelista also said the diocese has organized signature campaign activities to help gather support for the initiative. "We encourage our faithful in all parishes, schools, religious institutes, and communities to participate and vote for the end of political dynasties in our country through our signature campaigns," he said.

The D1L Movement launched its signature campaign in May, aiming to collect at least 7 million signatures to support the people's initiative. Under the 1987 Constitution, a people's initiative requires the support of at least 10 percent of all registered voters nationwide to propose legislation, including an anti-political dynasty law.
