DMW Extends Aid to OFW Family After Fatal NAIA Vehicular Incident

Manila: The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of a four-year-old daughter of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in a car-ramming incident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Sunday morning.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DMW stated that as directed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the agency has commenced providing assistance and support to the grieving family in coordination with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC). The department also expressed readiness to support the OFW in explaining his absence from work to his overseas employer and emphasized their strong plea for justice against the perpetrator.

The DMW also requested prayers for the fast recovery of four others injured in the incident, including the OFW's wife. Additionally, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has assured its readiness to support the bereaved family. OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio reaffirmed the agency's commitment to safeguarding the welfare of OFWs and their families, particularly during emergencies.

Police reported that a black SUV plowed through a crowd near the departure area of NAIA Terminal 1 at approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday. The driver is currently under police custody and is facing multiple charges. The incident also claimed the life of a 28-year-old man.
