DMW Organizes Job Fair Focusing on Women’s Overseas Employment

Quezon city: The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) organized a job fair exclusively for women, offering employment opportunities in sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, construction, manufacturing, and skilled trades. The event, named 'Mega Job Fair Para sa Kababaihan,' was held at a mall in Quezon City, aiming to guide women in making informed decisions about working abroad.

According to Philippines News Agency, DMW Undersecretary Bernard Olalia emphasized the event's purpose of protecting women from illegal recruiters and scammers. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of providing women with direction in their job search abroad, aiming to secure decent job opportunities that offer protection and empowerment.

The job fair saw participation from about 10 licensed recruitment agencies and two manning agencies, presenting approximately 2,500 approved job orders. The job destinations included regions such as Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Americas, and Europe.

Participants had access to pre-employment orientation and anti-illegal recruitment briefings. Various government agencies, including the Social Security System, Pag-IBIG Fund, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and others, were present to provide employment and documentation services. The event also featured DMW offices such as the Overseas Filipino Workers Hospital and the National Reintegration Center for OFWs, ensuring comprehensive support for attendees.
