Manila: Wounds and minor injuries were the most common medical cases among devotees who sought assistance at Department of Health (DOH) medical tents during the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene on Friday. The DOH reported that 344 devotees had been treated at its medical tents positioned along the route of the andas before noon. Aside from wounds, cases of dizziness and weakness were also reported.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DOH noted that its medical tents were strategically deployed near the procession route to provide immediate assistance to devotees in need of medical care. Health Emergency Response Teams (HERTs) of the DOH promptly responded to various medical incidents recorded during the annual religious event.

The DOH reported that patients experiencing dizziness, injuries, dehydration, and other minor ailments were immediately treated onsite, while those requiring further medical attention were swiftly referred to nearby hospitals. The DOH, in coordination with hospitals, local government units, and emergency medical services, ensured that medical teams were on standby at designated medical and first aid stations throughout the procession route.

The health department stated that proactive coordination, adequate prepositioning of medical personnel and equipment, and continuous monitoring were key to ensuring public safety amid the large gathering. The DOH remains on alert until the Traslacion concludes safely and reiterated its call for the public to prioritize safety when participating in mass activities and to immediately seek help from health personnel if they experience any health concerns.
