DOJ Hosts Inaugural Legal Lecture Series in Central Luzon

Cabanatuan City: The Department of Justice Action Center (DOJAC) in Region III, Central Luzon, announced it conducted its first legal lecture series at Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. This initiative aims to educate future lawyers and law enforcers on the workings of the criminal justice system.

According to Philippines News Agency, the lecture series aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s administration's commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice accessibility for all Filipinos. The event was a collaborative effort between the DOJ, the John Wesley School of Law and Governance (JWSLG), and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Nueva Ecija Chapter. It engaged 51 law students and 39 criminology students from WUP.

DOJAC head Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez encouraged participants to listen with their conscience and use their voices for advocacy, not argument. The lecture covered topics such as the basics of preliminary investigation and inquest, key aspects of Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), and DOJAC's functions and services.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla emphasized the importance of empowering future legal professionals to uphold justice for current and future generations, reflecting the government's role as the principal legal authority.
