DOLE Announces Nationwide Job Fair on Philippine Independence Day

Manila: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is preparing to host a nationwide job fair on June 12, marking the 127th anniversary of Philippine independence. DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma announced this initiative during a radio interview, highlighting it as a significant opportunity for job seekers across the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOLE is finalizing arrangements for the job fair, including determining the venues and sites. This event follows a similar job fair held on May 1, Labor Day, where 5,780 applicants were hired on the spot across 71 sites nationwide. This resulted in a HOTS (hired on the spot) placement rate of 15.07 percent, surpassing the previous year's rate of 11.10 percent.

In addition to the job fair, Secretary Laguesma mentioned the possibility of a wage increase order for the National Capital Region, which may be issued in July, coinciding with the anniversary of the last wage order.
