DOLE Antique Seeks Private Sector Support for Angel Tree Project for Child Laborers

Antique: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is seeking the support of the private sector for its Angel Tree project, which aims to assist child laborers or children at risk. The project, which will distribute school supplies and other necessary items to identified beneficiaries, is planned as part of the Labor Day celebration in the province on May 1, according to DOLE Antique Provincial Office Senior Labor and Employment Officer Benjie Requintina.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOLE Antique has identified 47 child beneficiaries who have been profiled as helping their parents in farming, charcoal-making, and hauling in Barangays Bongbongan I, II, and Masanag in the municipality of Hamtic. Requintina expressed an appeal to the private sector for their support, urging them to contribute anything they can for the activity on May 1.

The project is focused on providing school supplies in preparation for the school opening. Additionally, the local government of Hamtic and the Antique Provincial Employment Service Office will contribute food packs and snacks. Requintina mentioned that they are coordinating with the Philippine Army to arrange for medical doctors to perform circumcision.

Interested donors are encouraged to drop their donations at the DOLE Antique provincial office, to help make a meaningful impact on the lives of these children.
