DOLE-Cordillera Encourages Pre-Registration for Labor Day Job Fair

Baguio: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the Baguio Public Employment Services Office (PESO) are urging job seekers to pre-register ahead of the Labor Day Job Fair scheduled for May 1. The event aims to connect fresh graduates and seasoned professionals with local and overseas job opportunities from reputable employers.

According to Philippines News Agency, Patrick Rillorta, information officer of DOLE-CAR, highlighted the benefits of pre-registration, explaining that the registration forms, uploaded by PESO and DOLE into their system, serve as a database for potential employers to access applicant information. Rillorta emphasized that pre-registering allows applicants the time to thoughtfully complete their forms, which function similarly to a personal data sheet or curriculum vitae, thereby aiding employers in their hiring decisions.

Michelle Agbuya, manager of PESO-Baguio, noted that early registration streamlines the application process, enabling quicker referrals and allowing applicants to apply for more job openings. The pre-registration form requires details such as skills, preferred industries, and positions, along with necessary documents. Agbuya stressed that having these forms prepared in advance helps avoid wasting time on the day of the event, allowing applicants to promptly engage with companies offering suitable positions.

The job fair will also feature services from various government offices, with events taking place at two venues: the SM City mall and the Baguio Cultural and Convention Center.
