DOLE Reminds Bicol Employers of Wage Rules for Upcoming Holidays

Bicol: The Department of Labor and Employment in Bicol (DOLE-5) has issued a reminder to private-sector employers regarding the appropriate payment of wages for two regular holidays in June.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOLE-5 emphasized in a social media post that wages for Eid'l Adha on June 6 and Independence Day on June 12 must adhere to the pay rules outlined in Proclamation 727, Series of 2024, and Proclamation 911, Series of 2025. For work performed on a regular holiday, employers are required to compensate employees with 200 percent of their daily wage for the standard eight-hour work period.

For employees working more than eight hours on these holidays, employers are obligated to provide an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate for the overtime hours. This is calculated based on the formula: hourly rate of the basic daily wage x 200 percent x 130 percent x number of hours worked.

DOLE-5 also clarified that if an employee works on a holiday that coincides with their rest day, they should receive an extra 30 percent of the basic wage calculated at 200 percent. For overtime work under these circumstances, the additional pay should be calculated as: hourly rate of the basic daily wage x 200 percent x 130 percent x 130 percent x number of hours worked.
