Pangasinan: Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico III called on gas stations selling fuels at excessive prices to stop being opportunists at a time of crisis.

According to Philippines News Agency, the provincial and local government units are monitoring fuel prices amid the spike due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Governor Guico emphasized the need to prevent hoarding and unreasonable price hikes. He urged fuel retailers to wait for the mandate of the Department of Energy before implementing price increases and encouraged cooperation among fuel retailers.

Governor Guico warned that gas stations raising prices beyond those set by the Department of Energy may face the risk of losing their business permits. He urged residents to report any concerns via eGovPH (Report Gasoline Stations Concerns) or contact the Consumer Welfare and Promotion Office at 02-88402267 or their respective local government units.

The provincial government issued a statement reminding all gasoline stations to adhere to fair and reasonable fuel pricing. Stations found selling fuel at excessively high prices are to be reported to the proper authorities for monitoring and investigation. The statement outlined that violators may face penalties, including hefty fines and the possible cancellation of their operating permits.

Previously, Tayug Mayor Tyrone Agabas issued a notice of violation to a gasoline station for not complying with the allowable pump prices of petroleum products set by the Department of Energy for a specified monitoring period. The notice warned that continued non-compliance could lead to the suspension or revocation of the business permit.
